The Black Panther Party

Created by Huey Newton and Bobby Seale, the Black Panther party served as an organization to challenge police brutality against the African American community. They instituted many social programs and engaged in political activities and by 1968 had almost 2,000 members across the country. One of the programs was the Free Breakfast program and they also offered free health clinics in 13 African American communities throughout the U.S. Often portrayed as a terrorist group to many they were apart of the larger Black Power movement, that emphasized the importance of Black pride, community control and unification for civil rights. #Blackpantherparty #blackhistorymonth #blackpower🏾
